General questions

Our team will do it’s best to send you an estimate within 24 hours of our vehicle arriving at our centre.

We can also provide an initial quote over the phone so that you are not hit with any unexpected costs once diagnosed like other, non-repeatable, garages do.

We value transparency and clear communication and will keep you updated throughout the diagnostic and quoting process.

Unlike main dealers, who only supply brand-new gearboxes, we are often able to rebuild gearboxes using OEM or manufacturer warranty-approved parts.

In addition to this, despite the fact that many of our technicians are ex-main dealer employees, our labour rate is still significantly cheaper than that of a main dealer.

Our repairs typically take between 3-7 days, depending on the complexity of the gearbox, required repair, and part availability.

While our centres carry a large quantity of gearboxes and parts in stock, there are instances where we may need to order parts.

Please rest assured, we understand the importance of timely repairs and strive to get you back on the road as quickly as possible.

Gearbox questions

We provide three main types of solutions – reconditioning, replacement, and repairs.

Our expert technicians use only manufacturer approved parts for all repairs and offer a 12-month, 12,000-mile warranty.

Reconditioning involves the refurbishment of your existing gearbox using new parts. If rebuilding your gearbox is not feasible, we can replace it with a new or reconditioned gearbox. In cases where minor repairs are necessary, our technicians will carry out the repairs needed to get you back on the road again.

There are several factors that can contribute to a gearbox becoming faulty. Some of the most common causes include:

  1. Lack of maintenance: Regular maintenance, including changing the gearbox oil and replacing worn parts, can help prevent damage to the gearbox.

  2. Wear and tear: Over time, the gears and other components of the gearbox can become worn, leading to issues such as grinding or difficulty shifting.

  3. Overheating: Excessive heat can damage the gearbox and cause it to fail. This can be caused by a variety of factors, including driving at high speeds for extended periods or towing heavy loads.

  4. Contamination: Dirt, debris, or other contaminants can get into the gearbox and cause damage to the gears and bearings.

  5. Manufacturer defects: In some cases, the gearbox may have been manufactured with a defect that causes it to fail prematurely.

It’s not recommended to continue driving your car if you’re experiencing problems with the gearbox. While you may be able to drive for a short time, ignoring the issue could result in more severe damage to the gearbox and other components of your vehicle.

Continuing to drive with a faulty gearbox could also turn a simple repair into a more complex and expensive one. In some cases, driving with a damaged gearbox could lead to complete gearbox failure, which could result in extensive damage and costly repairs.

If you’re experiencing issues with your gearbox, it’s important to have it diagnosed and repaired by a professional as soon as possible.
